The Medical Laboratory Technician programme provides students with comprehensive theoretical knowledge and practical laboratory experience in medical diagnostics. The curriculum covers haematology, microbiology, chemical pathology, histopathology, immunology, laboratory management, and quality assurance, preparing graduates to support accurate disease diagnosis and patient care.
The programme is approved by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and accredited by the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN). Graduates are eligible to sit for the Medical Laboratory Technician Professional Qualifying Examination conducted by the Council before registration as licensed Medical Laboratory Technicians.

About Program
The ND Medical Laboratory Technology programme focuses on developing skilled laboratory personnel who can assist in the diagnosis and monitoring of diseases through scientific testing and analysis. Students are trained in essential laboratory procedures, quality control practices, laboratory safety, and the proper handling of biological specimens.
The curriculum integrates classroom instruction with intensive laboratory practical sessions, clinical laboratory postings, and supervised field experiences to develop students’ competence in performing diagnostic investigations and interpreting laboratory results.
Students gain knowledge in areas such as medical microbiology, clinical chemistry, haematology, immunology, parasitology, histopathology, anatomy and physiology, medical laboratory techniques, and laboratory management. Emphasis is placed on accuracy, professionalism, ethical practice, infection prevention, and adherence to quality assurance standards.
- Duration: 24 Months (Full-Time)

- Clinical Practice: Clinical Laboratory Sessions, Hospital Laboratory Posting, Specimen Collection and Analysis, and Diagnostic Laboratory Practice
