The Health Information Management programme equips students with the skills to manage medical records, health data, electronic health information systems, disease classification, medical coding, and healthcare statistics. Students are trained to ensure accurate documentation, confidentiality, and efficient management of patient information in hospitals and other healthcare institutions.
The programme is approved by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and accredited by the Health Records Officers Registration Board of Nigeria (HRORBN). Graduates are qualified to sit for the Professional Qualifying Examination conducted by the Board for registration and professional practice.

About Program
The ND Health Information Management programme focuses on developing professionals who can manage health records, maintain accurate patient information, and support healthcare decision-making through effective data management practices. Students are trained in the principles of medical records administration, health data collection, coding and classification of diseases, health statistics, information security, and healthcare information systems.
The curriculum integrates classroom learning with practical sessions, hospital-based training, and hands-on experience in health information departments to develop students’ technical competence, analytical skills, confidentiality practices, and understanding of healthcare documentation standards.
- Duration: 24 Months (Full-Time)
- Programme Structure: Four Semesters
- Clinical Practice: Hospital Health Information Department Posting, Medical Records Practice, Data Management Exercises, and Field Experience
