The Environmental Health Technology programme at De Potter College of Health Technology is designed to equip students with the knowledge and practical skills required to protect and promote public health through environmental sanitation and disease prevention. The curriculum covers environmental hygiene, waste management, food sanitation, water quality control, occupational health, vector control, epidemiology, and public health legislation. Students receive extensive classroom instruction, laboratory practicals, and field experience to prepare them for professional practice.

The programme is approved by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and accredited by the Environmental Health Council of Nigeria (EHCON). Upon successful completion of the programme, graduates are eligible to sit for the Professional Qualifying Examination conducted by EHCON for registration and professional practice as Environmental Health Technologists.

About Program

The HND Environmental Health Technology programme focuses on preparing students to become competent professionals capable of planning, implementing, supervising, and evaluating environmental health programmes. Students receive advanced training in environmental pollution control, waste management systems, occupational health and safety, food safety management, epidemiology, environmental impact assessment, water and sanitation management, and public health administration.

The curriculum integrates advanced classroom learning with practical fieldwork, laboratory investigations, environmental inspections, research projects, and community-based activities to strengthen students’ analytical skills, leadership capacity, decision-making abilities, and professional competence.

Students are trained to assess environmental health risks, develop effective control strategies, enforce environmental health regulations, and contribute to policies and programmes aimed at improving public health and environmental sustainability.
